Latest from Ausiello - 31st March 2010

Thanks to MIBsCrazyMother and Josh for the heads up.

Question: No Lost scoop in the last Ask Ausiello?! How about this, I’ll forgive you if you can give me something doubly juicy to make up for going a whole week without tidbits! —Matt
Ausiello: If you were a fan of “The Constant,” then you’re going to love next week’s heart-shaped episode. And if you weren’t, you won’t. It’s that simple. In other news, the Grim Reaper will soon be making his move. And I’m hearing words like “bloodbath” and “mass casualties” being thrown around.

Question: Any info on Ana-Lucia’s Lost return? —Craig
Ausiello: None whatsoever. My guess? She’s Miles’ mysterious girlfriend.

Some Season 6 Snippets

Thanks to Heather for the heads up on this report from Seattle’s music and arts festival Bumbershoot.

As executive producer Carlton Cuse explained, sometimes not knowing the whole story is more interesting and more fulfilling than knowing, and he wisely offered Star Wars’ midi-chlorians as an example. What gives mysteries their power is, well, how mysterious they are, and taking that away can take away the fun. So not everything on Lost will be made clear, but Cuse (along with executive producers Eddy Kitsis and Adam Horowitz) said that the creative team does have a road map of what they think must be explained. My question is, are the things I desperately need explained the things that the writers want to explain? I damn well hope so.

* Many faces from past seasons will appear in season six, including Charlie and possible Cindy (the flight attendant).
* While it normally takes the Lost writing team two weeks to plan an episode, “The Constant” took five. “Time travel is hard. It’s a lot of math!” —Kitsis.
* The boat sailed so well, its chase boat couldn’t keep up with it.
* Season six will have a fairly significant spiritual bent.
* The final shot of the show is already planned.
* While the producers have no personal plans for future incarnations of Lost, Cuse pointed out that it’s a powerful franchise and Disney would be foolish not to capitalize on that. So I think we can expect more Lost of some stripe in the future (or the past, because there’s often time travel involved.)
* Taking up that topic, Kitsis proclaimed that there really, really should be a Saturday morning cartoon show called Locke and the Monster in which Locke and the Smoke Monster teach kids lessons and build things. Coming this fall.

Latest LOST Spoilers From Kristin

Who opened the door of the sick bay for Sayid and Desmond? How'd the comm center get trashed? Episode eight will answer those Q's.

Oh, and P.S.: You heard about "the death" that's coming up, right? Well, fear not, 'cause from what I understand, this death does not mean it's the last we'll see of this person on the show—not by a long shot. Yay for time travel! Yay for Desmond! Yay for the love of this show!

Jenny in Adelaide, Australia: Lost! Gimme!

Huh? Whosey whatsy show? Oh, that one with the people on the weird island? I guess I can talk about it. Episode nine is gonna feature some richy-rich types who live in a doorman building—the show is now casting for a French-speaking African desk clerk and a "distinguished" doorman. Methinks we're going back to Tunisia...Holler! (Can't stop saying that since Rebecca Mader's hilarious delivery. Why can't I be from Cambridge?)

Cusick Spills Lost Spoilers on Desmond, Flashbacks, and More

Flashbacks are so … in the past. ABC's Lost (tonight, 9 p.m. ET/PT) is now all about flash-forwards. But then there is Desmond, whose scenes tonight are something else entirely. Henry Ian Cusick, 40, previews tonight's episode with USA TODAY.

Q: So is Desmond's episode tonight a flash-forward or flashback?
A: It's, uh … to be honest, it's neither. It's more in line with those time-travel flashes before his eyes. A lot of people either love the time-travel element or hate it.

Q: The last time we saw Desmond, he and Sayid were being taken by helicopter to the freighter, but it had been taking an unusually long time to arrive. What's up with that?

A: There's a reason for that, and you'll find that out in this episode. And you'll find out why it's so difficult to get to the island.

Q: With whom do we see Desmond interact?

A: You will see (Desmond's love) Penny and her father, Charles Widmore. You will also see Desmond back in the military. And you'll also meet a whole new bunch of guys on the freighter, who have been a whole lot of fun to work with.

Q: What was it like for you and Naveen Andrews (Sayid) working on that freighter out in the middle of the ocean?

A: We filmed off Barber's Point (the west coast of Oahu) — about 10 to 15 minutes offshore. Once you're there, you're stuck on the boat, so we all had to find places to sleep and hide to be out of the shots. We had days and days being on that freighter and had a few night shoots as well. Because Naveen and I are both from the U.K., we had a lot of things to talk about — like characters from crappy old TV shows from our childhoods.

Q: We are learning one by one who make up the Oceanic Six, so far revealed to be Jack, Hurley, Sayid, Kate and maybe (the show's not confirming) baby Aaron. Since Desmond was never on Flight 815, can we assume he does not turn out to be one of the six?

A: That's what all of us were trying to figure out when we were receiving the scripts. I think it suddenly dawned on us that you had to be an original passenger on the plane that went down to be an Oceanic Six.

Q: So tell us. Who is Ben's man on the freighter?

A: You find out, but not for a few episodes.

Latest LOST Spoilers From Kristin

Here is the latest spoiler post for LOST by Kristin and it is a little review of the upcoming episodes of Season 4.

Thanks to TSH for the heads up.

Desmond! Next week it's all about our favorite nude beach runner and what happens to him and Sayid in the freighter-copter. (Note: The turbulance toggles his "time travel"-y switch and flashes to a run-in with Daniel Faraday as he is a professor at Oxford...This is the clip we see in the preview in which short-haired Des says to long-haired D.F. "Am I gonna die?" And it should be mentioned that Desmond also could survive off the island and not be counted as one of the Oceanic Six since he wasn't on the manifest.)

And the week after that, it's...

Smooch time! Chances are, you already know the players (tsk, tsk, tsk). But I think many of you will like the development of that romance. are also getting very close to the return of Harold Perrineau (Michael), which makes me want to kiss someone my own self. His episode (number 8) will fill in where he's been since we last saw him, and I think you'll be pleased.

Here are the current working titles for LOST Season 4 Episodes 5 & 6.

I've just learnt the titles for Episode 5 and 6. Now these are the working titles which 95% of the time remain the same as the official ones, although with such a large time between the shooting and air date this may increase the chances of them changing, but for now these are the titles.
