Only five episodes left of Lost...sob! I hit the show's set in Oahu, Hawaii, for tonight's episode, which is not to be missed—and had some nice one-on-one time with some of our favorite Losties: Evangeline Lilly, Josh Holloway and Jorge Garcia.
We also have exclusive, behind-the-scenes raw video that sure seems to imply that things are so not all right with Jack and Sawyer tonight, and Kate may be stuck in the middle. (Gulp.)
So hmmm...why was Evangeline talking about lip gloss? What's this about Hurley going evil? And what "guy talk" do Jack and Sawyer have in store?

Here’s your Lost scoop: If you’re expecting the Sawyer/Kate/Jack triangle to move front and center during these final 10 episodes, it may be time to start managing those expectations. “We’re moving into the endgame of the show [and] the stakes have moved beyond, ‘Who’s Kate going to pick?’ and into, ‘Is anyone going to be left alive?,’ says executive producer Damon Lindelof. “I hope [viewers are] going to be satisfied with what we’re doing, but we’re not writing a romance novel here. I understand in seasons past how that was much more relevant. We’re not neglecting it, but there’s a lot of fish to fry. The elements of the love triangle — Kate’s relationship with Jack, her relationship with Sawyer, Sawyer’s relationship with Juliet, who’s dead — are a huge part of the season. Question: Will we find out why Richard doesn’t age on Lost? —Julie
Ausiello: Yes. The big reveal occurs in the March 23 Richard-centric episode. And if you think you know the answer, think again. “I definitely had a number of theories about why he doesn’t age and I was dead wrong,” confesses Nestor Carbonell, who adds that the episode is unconventional in that “the ‘A’ story focuses on the origins of this character. Creators of ABC's Lost told fans that they're fighting over what goes in and what stays out of the series finale, which they're now writing.
Co-creator and executive producer Damon Lindelof described writing the finale as completing a jigsaw puzzle, and there are only a few pieces left in the box. But the staff still has to be sure which ones they want to put together. "Now we just have to start putting things into place and say, 'Are we sure that that's what we wanted to do?'" Lindelof said over the weekend in interviews before a panel at the Paley Center for Media in Beverly Hills, Calif. "'No, let's talk about that a little bit longer. Are we sure that's what we wanted to do? Yes, absolutely. In fact, that's what we have to do, because we set it up two years ago.'"
Lindelof was joined by executive producer Carlton Cuse and cast members. Before the panel, Lindelof, Michael Emerson, director Jack Bender and writers Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz spoke to a group of reporters and revealed some spoilers for the rest of the sixth and final season.
Bender is prepping to direct the final episode and make it the ultimate episode of Lost. "I'm not viewing it as just an episode," Bender said. "It's the finale, but at the same time, every episode has to be great." Horowitz added that season finales are always different, so this would be the best of the six season finales. "Whenever we've approached a finale, there's a slightly different feel," Horowitz said. "We approach it as two hours instead of one. We're conscious of it as writers of the episodes leading up to it and laying down some things and to pay it off."
♦Emerson said to expect more Sideways Ben, who is a meek schoolteacher. "It's interesting where this thing goes," Emerson said. "We don't go that far with it. It doesn't last that long. I mean, it's the last season. There's little to be done, but it was exciting to play, and I think it has a nice grown-up irony contained in it. He's completely non-manipulative. He is in fact a poor manipulator. It's as if Ben was made up of a bunch of personality blocks, but the blocks got scrambled. Some blocks that used to be big are now little blocks. Some are barely perceptible anymore. It's good that way."
♦Also expect Jacob's motivations to become clear, finally. Lindelof promised answers to Jacob's search for a new "candidate." "We now have information that he had this lighthouse that he was able to see these people, into their lives, and for some reason, whatever reason, he chose them," Lindelof said. "We'll find out what that reason is in the coming weeks, but that's kind of all I can say about it right now."
♦Libby returns! Before the sixth and final season began, Lindelof and Cuse revealed that Cynthia Watros would return as Libby. We haven't seen her yet, but Bender revealed when she's coming. "Probably toward the second half of this season," Bender said. He also hinted that Libby could be in more than one episode. "Yeah, maybe," he teased.
♦As for the new flashes into the sideways universe, Horowitz advised viewers not to get too comfortable with the new format. "That's the format so far," Horowitz said. "We're calling them the Sideways, and that's what this year is. So far, yeah, we're looking at different characters, but as we have in seasons past, we reserve the right to do what we want."
♦You don't know the rules of the Sideways yet: Don't be so sure that the universes are safely independent of one another. "I mean, Charlie died in the island, but he seems to be alive in the Sideways," Lindelof said. "Boone died on the island, he seems to be alive in the Sideways. What happens if you die in the Sideways? That's an interesting question."
♦Who's the mother of Jack's musical prodigy son, David? Julie Bowen, the actor who played Jack's ex-wife in previous flashbacks, told reporters at Paley's Modern Family event that she thinks she's the mom. Others think it could be Juliet. Lindelof is just amused that it has become such a source of speculation.
"If it's relevant to the story who David's mother is, we will answer it," Lindelof said. "But its relevance is yet to be determined. What's relevant to us might not be relevant to you and vice versa. What's irrelevant to us might be very relevant to you, but we're writing our version of the show, and we can't really be put in a position to apologize for it. We'll take our lumps, but at the end of the day, we all know and we've said publicly on many, many occasions that we can't possibly answer every question that people have."

We can answer the "how" and "if" portion of your question with something Carlton Cuse told us this weekend: "We have two timelines we're exploring simultaneously, and when the audience understands how those two timelines connect, hopefully it will provide a satisfaction that will make you happy and give you what you want but not in the way you want it." As for that tricky "when," he'd only say this: "It's too much of a reveal, but let's say it won't happen until the very end of the show because that's obviously the big question of the season." Basically, plan on seeing lots of island Jack and Jack the Dad in episodes to come.
Marcus in Mass.: Do you know anything at all about the Lost finale? Anything?!
Those Lost folks stay so tight-lipped, but we did get show writer Elizabeth Sarnoff to say a word or two about the finale, and she gave us these: emotional and rewarding. "The end is really emotional, and that's what we're going for. These characters are the heart and soul of the show and we want to give them rewarding endings," explained Liz. Damon Lindelof, on the other hand, had only this to say regarding Lost's conclusion: "Water." And trust us, he was very serious about whatever this word means for the end. "It sounds funny now, but you'll see!" he promised.
Maggie in Helena, Mont.: This Richard Alpert episode of Lost can't come soon enough. Anything you can say about it?
We'll let Nestor Carbonell do the talking: "You're going to see mostly the origins of Richard in [episode nine]. Latest Filming Report
Update: 12:00 Thanks to Chris for emailing me this extra info.
in the day we saw them filming at the ajira plane set, it was locke coming out of the planes front door. down what appeared to be a bamboo built stair way....he would come out, and was having some sort of dialogue withs ome other characters.
later as they started filming down by the wing more and what not, we could FINALLY see, and it would appear that he was talking to some of the losties. including Sawyer, Sayid, Claire, & Jack. It's possible that kate and or hurley was there, but we couldn't see them at all....
but that was basically the day shoot.
then in the night they started shooting some beach scenes. NOT at the survivor camp, but they were at police beach, a little ways down between the ajira plane and the survivor camp, it was just some basic beach scenes.
we watched the stunt doubles for jack and sawyer go in the water, and essentially from what i saw, jack was pulling a very wet and passed out sawyer, and was trying to wake him up or w/e. and it hurley was coming over with kate, and she seemed to have maybe been injured, since hurley was helping her over with her arm on his shoulder.
this scene included jack kate sawyer and hurley.
we eventually left. because it was sprinkling, and they kept moving us around, although they were very nice to us, it became a pain in the ass. especially since they would tell us they were just moving us out of the shot, when i m not stupid and could use my eyes, not to mention the fact that i ve worked on many films and video shoots to know which way the camera was facing and what they are doing....and so on. they were just being a pain. even though we know that we can do whatever we want ON the beach, we decided to give them a break and just leave earlier....
BTW, this IS episode 14. i CAN confirm that.
and for the record, not all of the filming is ALWAYS for that certain episode.
my g/f and i were at the temple set recently and found a shot list for episode 6. and it appeared to be alot of pick ups. and was dated for feb 01. so they have apparently been shooting a number of pick ups as well...also one of the crew said its likel they ll be extending their shooting time, because they will need the time...
we've been checkin em out all week, and seen them almost everyday this week.
and will probably keep hunting next week.

Zap2it: Is "Lost" popular in Japan?
Sanada: Very much. I just came back from Tokyo last night. I did a big event with Carlton — talk shows, press conferences. We got a great reaction there. I was surprised at how big it is in Japan. There is a big audience for "Lost."
Zap2it: How many more episodes are you in this season?
Sanada: I can't tell you exactly how many, but I've already finished my shooting.
Zap2it: But you'll be in a few more, correct?
Sanada: A few more, yes.
Zap2it: What is your read on Dogen and his motivation?
Sanada: He grew up in Japan, and somehow he came to the island. He has a mission, which is studying the island. He's very — he has a lot of loyalty to the mission [and is willing] to sacrifice. I think that's the most important thing to him. And he knows something [laughs].
Zap2it: Do you have a sense of where Dogen fits into the hierarchy of the Others? Does he have any more authority than, say, Ben (Michael Emerson) or Richard (Nestor Carbonell)?
Sanada: I don't know if he's equal, or who knows more or is more important. But he's an important person on the island. Yeah, he's mysterious. [Laughs] He was mysterious for me, too. Every week I'd read the script and realize, "Oh — oh my gosh." I really enjoyed reading the script every week.
Zap2it: Do you think Dogen's view of Jack (Matthew Fox) changed after he was willing to swallow a poison pill in "What Kate Does"?
Sanada: Yes. ... I have many scenes with Jack, and also Sayid [Naveen Andrews]. The two of them are the most important people [to Dogen].
Zap2it: They're who you deal with the most?
Sanada: Yes. And they're great actors, so I was very lucky. I had a great time with them.
Zap2it: Do you know how long Dogen has been on the island?
Sanada: He's been living on the island for about 20 years.
Zap2it: And, without giving too much away, what can we look forward to with the character?
Sanada: It will be clear why he came to the island and what his mission is.

Sanada: I don't know if he's equal, or who knows more or is more important. But he's an important person on the island. Yeah, he's mysterious. [Laughs] He was mysterious for me, too. Every week I'd read the script and realize, "Oh — oh my gosh." I really enjoyed reading the script every week.
Zap2it: Do you think Dogen's view of Jack (Matthew Fox) changed after he was willing to swallow a poison pill in "What Kate Does"?
Sanada: Yes. ... I have many scenes with Jack, and also Sayid [Naveen Andrews]. The two of them are the most important people [to Dogen].
Zap2it: They're who you deal with the most?
Sanada: Yes. And they're great actors, so I was very lucky. I had a great time with them.
Zap2it: Do you know how long Dogen has been on the island?
Sanada: He's been living on the island for about 20 years.
Zap2it: And, without giving too much away, what can we look forward to with the character?
Sanada: It will be clear why he came to the island and what his mission is.

In this week's flash-sideways, Kate and Claire spend more time together and we see that Kate may be destined to be a part of Aaron's life regardless of whether they crashed on the island, and someone else might have the same destiny. Keep your eyes peeled for the surprise return of an old frenemy!
