Emilie de Ravin Interview with AOLTV

Thanks to Andie for the heads up.

So Claire is crazy, huh?
[Laughs] In a nutshell, yes!

Funny you say the word "nutshell" because I've heard something about a squirrel baby ...
Mmmhmmm ... I've made myself a squirrel child out of squirrel bones and some kind of fur and little button eyes. He's real cute.

Obviously you can't just disappear with your father in that cabin for a full season and not have repercussions, so is this what's happened?
Yeah, she's been three years, living on her own, making her own housing and food and protecting herself. The only person she's had contact with as a friend is Locke -- who's not really Locke anymore. So any information that she's been given about what's going on with other people or the Island is from him. And there are maybe some things that are not the whole truth. He's led her to believe that the Others have her baby at the Temple, so that's been her whole plan this last three years, to get him back. Finding out that he's off the Island and Kate is bringing him up is just like a complete, complete shock to her. So there's an interesting relationship with Claire and Kate now -- a combination of animosity, to say the least, and also respect and thanks. So that's been fun playing with.

So since you're the one playing it, do you think there's a way she can snap out of it? Or will Claire just end up on the Island still crazy?
I mean, the evolution this season for her character is sort of coming back to who Claire was. You know, she's still there, underneath it all, even though she's pretty damn loopy. There's still flickers of who Claire is and was, and maybe will be again. Or not.

Secrets From the Set

Thanks to Iceman, Flyer and John for the heads up.

1. Under Pressure: “I don’t think ‘panic’ is the right word,” says Damon Lindelof of co-writing the highly anticipated premiere with fellow executive producer Carlton Cuse, “but it was like, ‘How do we do this?’” The producers have said that time traveling through the ’70s is history, as are the show’s traditional flashback/flash-forward narrative structures. “We haven’t [told the story] like this before,” Lindelof says. “It’s like, ‘Are we gonna be able to pull it off?’” Daniel Dae Kim, who plays Jin, believes they have. “I knew it would be something inventive because that’s how this show rolls,” he says. “But we’ve definitely increased our scope.” His three words to describe his reaction to the first episode? “Intrigued. Excited. Curious.”

2. All About Character: For all of Lost’s elaborate and feverishly dissected mythology, the series has always been, at its core, a character drama — and that won’t change. “The final season is really when you’re going to learn what these characters’ destinies are,” says Cuse. Expect man of faith Locke (Terry O’Quinn) — or whoever he is now — to prove a central figure, along with man of science Dr. Jack Shephard. “About midway through [the season], Jack will absolutely know, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that his whole life has brought him to this point in time,” Matthew Fox says of his tortured character, “and that he is meant to do something very, very important.”

3. About That Mythology: SPOILER ALERT! In the two-hour premiere, one of Lost’s biggest mysteries — one that’s been rattling around since the pilot no less — is fleshed out. (Got goosebumps yet?) How about this? “We might be seeing Hurley’s guitar case in some way again,” says Jorge Garcia, who plays the lottery winner. What’s more, one character’s first line of dialogue in the season-opener was actually handed to fans way back in July at Comic-Con. Let the theorizing begin!

4. Sun’s Safe House: Lost quickly earned a reputation for a willingness to kill off main characters, including Boone, Charlie, Mr. Eko, and Michael. This season, it doesn’t take long to realize that more names will be added to the list. Yunjin Kim, who plays subservient wife-turned-revenge-seeker Sun, may be the only one who’s not worried. “Back at the end of season two, I said, ‘I bought a condo [in Hawaii] and if I get killed off, you’re going to have to buy it from me,’” Kim says of a conversation with producers. “Carlton was like, ‘Well, we’re never going kill you off.’ I was joking but it didn’t seem like he was.”

5. Lost Stars Are Still Lost: “No actor has been given the full blueprint of what the ending of the show is,” Cuse says. “And no one’s asked us either.” That doesn’t mean the actors don’t have ideas about their character’s fates. Dae Kim hopes his is integral to the show’s final conflict — whatver it may be — while his onscreen wife hopes Sun doesn’t get her happy ending: “I would be really disappointed if we wound up being a happily married couple,” she says. She’s not the only one who thinks love is overrated. After five seasons of love triangle-ing over Kate (Evangeline Lily), neither Sawyer or Jack seems sold on winding up with the feisty fugitive. “Jack and Kate have always cared deeply for each other but [their] circumstances may be too much for that relationship to ever really have a chance,” says Fox. Josh Holloway is more blunt: “Sawyer and Kate have a love that is undeniable but maybe it must be denied.”

6. She’s Back: That would be Emilie de Ravin, who returns full-time playing Aaron’s (dead?) baby mama Claire after being M.I.A. in season 5. “I didn’t watch the show at all while I was gone,” she says. She has a good excuse: de Ravin was busy shooting last July’s Public Enemies with Johnny Depp and the upcoming Remember Me with Robert Pattinson. But what can she tell us about Claire’s hiatus? “It’s in a very unexpected scenario,” she says, choosing her words carefully, “and she’s not quite the same.” Does that also apply to Charlie (Dominic Monaghan) and Boone (Ian Somerhalder), both of whom return for guest shots? Lips are sealed! But one thing is certain: off-screen, Holloway is a changed man. “I have become quite the lightweight [since becoming Dad to daughter Java Kumala last April],” Holloway reports. “Three beers and I’m, like, gone. It’s ridiculous! But it’s wonderful. Just being with the little one — that makes me feel intoxicated.”

Emlie de Ravin Discusses What to Expect from Claire in Season 6

Here is a portion of a recent interview that Emilie de Ravin did with MTV and spoke about her upcoming movie Remember Me and of course her return to LOST.

MTV: About "Lost," you weren't in the fifth season at all. Was it hard to slip back into the character of Claire, or was it just like riding a bike?

De Ravin: I'd been playing her for four years, so it was kind of like riding a bike. I quite like that analogy. But when I'm coming back to the Island, I'm coming back in a pretty unexpected way and there's a whole other Claire for me to explore and play with, which has been so much fun, but also getting to play with who I was, with flashback stuff.

MTV: What do you mean about a "whole other Claire"?

De Ravin: Without being murdered in my sleep due to exposing secrets of the series, it's a different Claire, a different side of her, one I never thought I'd be playing. That's all I can say.

MTV: Did you watch the fifth season while you were away?

De Ravin: I made a conscious decision not to watch season five because Claire wasn't there, so I thought it was interesting to not be too in touch with what was going on with the other characters. That gave another side to the mystery for me, but there's already enough bloody mystery going on, isn't there? Even more!

MTV: Is there one mystery as a fan that you'd like to have answered at the end?

De Ravin: There was a lot of talk about how Claire's baby, Aaron, was a big key to why we're all there and what's going to happen and that he could be the element of letting us know that. As of now, I don't know, but there's something interesting going on there. I want to know!

Set Pics - Temple Set Ready and More from Airport Set

Hey All,
Here are some more set pics for Season 6 of LOST.

LOST Fan Carmel who is visiting the island decided to see what she could see of the temple set and headed to Diamond Head studios. She was able to get a glimpse of the exterior walls but it is now looking like it is ready for filming any day so we should expect to see the temple early in the season!

Also, spotted out on the studio lot were part of the Sub again and the Santa Rosa sign missing some letters. Of course these props could just be sitting there for storage and not being used yet.

Thanks to Carmel for sending over the pics!

Also, our good friend Ryan in Hawaii scored a couple of more set pics from the airport filming scenes, as it seems like a fan (named Geronimo) was able to get pics of Matthew Fox (Jack) and Evangeline Lilly (Kate) chatting between takes and a pregnant Emilie De Ravin (Claire).

Here are some pics and head over to Hawaii Blog to find some more!

Episode 6x03 - Set Report and Filming Update

UPDATE: Thanks to Ryan from Hawaii for the update that it seems like Kate was the driver of the cab and this new set pic.

UPDATE: Thanks to TV Overmind for the following details that "Jenny" is actually actress Jenni Blong from True Blood.

Hey All,
The LOST crew and cast were at it again this week and the scene being filmed seems to be a continuation of the Kate Taxi Cab Scene from the airport.

We had reports of Emilie De Ravin on the Airport set and well it seems like her character Claire has decided to share a cab with Kate.

The big questions are of course WHY and do they remember or know each other!?

Thanks to our friend Ryan in Hawaii who posted a new set report from a fan named Carrie who was able to watch filming with both Kate and Claire reaching the home of what seems like the future parents of Aaron in LA!!

There are some key spoilers here so do NOT read unless you want to know:

The woman answers the door and this is what Carrie witnessed:

“I’m sorry, I’m so sorry,” she says. “I really wanted this. But my husband… I just can’t have the baby right now.”

There’s anguish. And awkwardness. They’re not invited inside. But after a few more words are exchanged, it’s Claire’s turn to cry out. She cringes, and bends over, apparently and suddenly going into labor.

“Call a doctor!” Kate urges.

Mr. Eko wants to stage his comeback

Thanks to Shane for the heads up.

Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, aka former tailie Mr. Eko, has a message for Lost executive producers Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse: “Fans of Eko should have hope.” Though Akinnuoye-Agbaje was the first castaway to vote himself off the island in season three, the British actor hopes to be one of the dead characters who makes a comeback in the drama’s final season. “I loved playing that character,” he told EW at the premiere of G.I. Joe: The Rise of the Cobra, in which he plays Heavy Duty. “I loved working with that team and the reception I got from people was phenomenal. Even at Comic-Con this year I went to sign my action figure for G.I. Joe and people had tons of questions about Lost. It makes you feel good that you could be off a show for more than a year and still have people thinking about your character. It was a great part.

“I’m here for them,” Akinnuoye-Agbaje continues. “Adewale is open for business. We have had talks about some things they might do for the final season and there are other dead folks coming back allegedly but at the moment it is still a maybe. A strong maybe but I have not shot anything yet or signed any contracts. But I’m hoping.”

The executive producers declined to comment but they did tell attendees at Comic-Con last month that the show will allow for dead or presumed-dead characters to return. Definites include Daniel Faraday (Jeremy Davies), Claire (Emilie de Ravin), Juliet (Elizabeth Mitchell) and Boone (Ian Somerhalder). What do you think? Should Mr. Eko be among the dearly departed who’s allowed to stage a comeback?

Getting Lost

Thanks to Rachel for the heads up.

In this installment of TVGuide.com's Getting Lost video series, we plucked a few reader questions out of the Getting Lost mailbag.

The topics that are addressed:

• Did Matthew Fox and a young Malcolm David Kelley pre-film a scene during Season 1 to be used in the series finale?
• With Emilie de Ravin back as a series regular for the final season, will Claire be alive... or that special Lost kind of dead?
• Has a time slot — or at least a month — been set for Lost's final season premiere?

LOST Producers Confirm Return of Claire in Season 6

Ok for most of you that have kept up to speed on all the spoilers, the return of Claire is not too shocking, but it is good to hear that LOST producers confirm once again the Emilie De Ravin will return as a "Series regular" in Season 6!!

So for all of you Claire fans that have been waiting for her patiently, well guess what just about another 8 months and you will finally get to see a good deal of her again.

Thanks to Ausiello from EW for the tidbit where you can find some theories on how she might return.

So what do you think!?

Season 5 - Update on Deaths and Who is Returning!?

Here are the latest tidbits from Kristin at E! Online. Updating us on the status of Michael, Claire and Jin.

For those of you that have not read the reports yet, Harrold Perrineau has been cast in a new ABC pilot so it looks like he has landed on his feet ok. Also, a few days ago it was confirmed that Emilie De Ravin has a "holding contract" for Season 5 and will return in Season 6.

Also, if you have kept up to date on all the spoilers, you would know that Daniel Dae Kim's character Jin, will be ok. So nothing really new, but it is a little more clarification for you all.

Here are the details:

Janet in R.I.: Anything new to report on Harold Perrineau’s death on Lost? I was so sad to see him go!
You and me both, babe. But the good news is that Harold is set to star in a dramedey on ABC (he was cast in the pilot The Unusuals), which is music to my ears. If you’ve seen much of H.P. in real life, you know he is (a) hilarious, (b) funny and (a) did I mention the funny? And of course, he can act his ass off. Personally, I never felt like poor, unlikable Mikey-poo did him much justice, so a fresh start where he can flaunt his comedy chops sounds good all around to me. Just my opinion! If you disagree, let mama have it in the comments below...

Mena in Los Angeles: Please, spill the beans! Is there a chance that my darling Jin survived the freighter explosion on Lost?
Jin is gonna be fine. I don't know exactly how, but he's going to be fine. I suspect that the difference between Michael's and Jin's survival is that Michael was trapped inside the hold, whereas Jin being up on the edge of the deck meant he had a chance to be blown clear of the ship. Besides, the guy magically survived the crash of a 747 and the wreck of the raft. No reason he shouldn't survive this shipwreck—I choose to believe the Island clearly joins us all in loving him and wanting to keep him around.

Cristina L. in Miami: About the person leaving Lost next season but returning the for season six...You said it's a girl from the first season, so is Rose included, or do you just mean Kate, Sun and Claire.
Rose would have been included, but as revealed in the Redux's "What's to Come" section, Emilie de Ravin will be on a holding contract with Lost for season five and returning in season six. But don't worry, you can get your Emilie fix elsewhere in the coming year: She's got a part in the Johnny Depp flick Public Enemies, she's in the period baseball picture The Perfect Game with Clifton Collins Jr. and last but not least, she'll be costarring in Ball Don't Lie with Nick Cannon and Ludacris. Even without Lost, she's going to be a busy cookie!

Season 5 Casting Update - Emilie De Ravin's Holding Contract!?

Ok so you all know I really really love this show, but sometimes I can not figure out what the hell is going on and what the writers have planned or are thinking. Yes, that is definitely a part of the mystery behind the story line. However, some of the casting moves and "deaths" seem very questionable. I do trust Lindelof and Cuse because so far what they have done is amazing, but like most of you know. The deaths of Eko, Danielle, Charlie, Michael and Walt leaving with Michael returing to be killed all seem out of place...or for no point...!?

Once again, under used Emilie De Ravin (Claire) who is a great actress and is making waves in the indie scene in Hollywood seems to have found herself among the "undead" of LOST.

The writers did confirm Claire was supposed to have a KEY stroy arc coming up and her appearing in Jacob's cabin with daddy and then again in Kate's dream during a Flashfoward looked like that story line. However, E! Online seems to have confirmed a rumor that we we NOT see Claire as a regular next season!?!? Instead she will return as a regular in Season 6...?? WTF...!? I am sure they have a story set for her and they signed a "holding contract" that allows her to pursue other projects but still have to return to LOST.

Crazy if you ask me. Well here is the tidbit from Kristin:

According to my sources, our Claire-bear (Emilie de Ravin) will not be a regular in season five, but rather she will be on a "holding contract." However, after her sojourn in the underworld, or wherever she is, she will return to us for season six.
